Order Only: Heidi Clarke and Cameron Happer

The bad news first: I'm so, so sorry to say that we were too late for Heidi Clarke. She died two days ago of a cough and fever. We had a rough time of it -- her parents wanted to know why we couldn't have showed up sooner, and I'm afraid nothing we said to them made them less heartbroken and upset. Well, I can't really blame them, but we didn't even try to feel them out about taking a button and the like. We just lent a shoulder to be cried on and apologised profusely and it was all sodding awful and next time we get a list of names I want to go as soon as possible so this doesn't

Tonks told them about the memorial garden, and I promised them we'd plant a tree for Heidi. Her mum asked if it could be a lilac bush instead, since she always loved lilacs, almost named Heidi 'Lilac' instead. I said I didn't think that would be a problem at all. When you do plant it, and once it blooms, I'd like to preserve one of the flowers and bring it back to them. Just to let them know we haven't forgotten.

The less bad news is that Cameron Happer is safely at Moddey. It took us quite a long time to talk his parents into letting us take him -- rumours have apparently spread about Strangeweale's house of horrors, and got wilder and wilder as they went. (As rumours do.) They were convinced we were there to take Cameron away to do unspeakable things to him, and nothing we said could convince them we weren't, until Tonks hit on telling them that we'd actually found the wizard who'd been doing unspeakable things to babies and brought him to justice and part of why we were doing this was to make sure something like that didn't happen again. Once they heard that, they were more willing to listen about Moddey and what it was like there, and we eventually got them to agree. Took sodding forever, but Cameron's settling in down in the nursery now.
