Sorry about the delay in reporting, Alice, you wouldn't believe the day it's been. This is probably going to be disjointed, I'm remembering it all out of order.

Let's see. First off, Bill told me this morning about the meeting, and he didn't seem to be holding anything back. Remembered a few things differently than I did, that was all, but I don't blame him, since it was pretty emotional and there were a few places he wasn't listening all that great. (So I guess the core of my report is, yes, he is thinking with his prick, but not only, and only when he can't help himself.)

Assuming he told you what he told me this morning, he told me she said that she wouldn't have wanted to recruit him if he hadn't been working for Mulciber, but I remember that she said she got interested in him a while back, when she was looking through some memories Massopust saved and saw something in Bill's face right after Archer's death. (She said she destroyed that memory, and a few others. So at least it's not something somebody else could do too.)

She's an animagus, so nobody's going to read her mind and blow things that way. (Oh! And "the other Legilimens" in the Aurors is, oh Merlin, I told myself not to forget the name, I told myself -- Penderyn. Gwyn Penderyn. You might have already known that.)

She made a few very pointed guesses at names from our end. (Sirius, for instance, but that's not a big stretch. Frank. The other people she guessed were Dad and Archer. Nobody else who's got a public identity that would be at risk, other than Bill.) She didn't give away anyone else from Dogstar, although she started to -- whoever Dogstar had in Saltash knew her and could have identified her, and she started to say his name but caught himself. She admitted she was the one who killed Stephen, and that it was against her standing orders (well, her standing orders as an Auror) -- she said she didn't even know he was one of ours, that it was before she realized there was another group there and she was using Dogstar's standard rules of "leave no one to be captured".

Um, what else. Bill mentioned Terry, not by name but as "a muggleborn who learned the animagus transformation", and she was fascinated, called it impressive. So that's another wand pointing to her telling the truth on all this, I don't think somebody who believed in the Protectorate party line well enough could fake that kind of sincerity.

Oh! Did you know the part about Ron and an Auror internship? (Bill didn't mention that to me this morning and I didn't want to ask, since, well.) That knocked me for a loop.

Anyway. I didn't hear anything that really concerned me, and I do think she's genuine and not trying to trap him. Unfortunately, she also sort of has a death wish a mile wide. Well, "death wish" isn't quite the word for it, more like -- she doesn't see a way through this in which she doesn't get killed because of her actions for one side or the other, and she's okay with that. I don't know if we could recruit her away from Dogstar by giving her another way of looking at things, or if she's with Dogstar because she doesn't want another way of looking at things, you know what I mean?
